What was Zak's home life like? What kind of person was he becoming?
Zak mentioned that he was always the new kid in school because his family had moved 20 times in 19 years. As a result, he was often bullied in school. How did his experience of being bullied impact him?
Zak eventually learned from interacting with different people that he could be friends with people who had different beliefs and lifestyles. Do you think it is important to interact with different individuals? Is your own group of friends diverse, or is everyone the same?
When Zak's mother told him, "I'm tired of hating people," Zak realized how much negative energy it takes to hate. What do you think takes more energy, to hate others or to care for others? Explain your reasoning.
If Zak was 13 years old again today and enrolled here at iMiddle, do you think he would be bullied? What would you say to him?
